Belfast Barbell Club has two experienced coaches who both hold British Weightlifting Level 2 Coaching and British Weightlifting Level 2 Technical Officials qualifications.
Both coaches have years of coaching and competitive experience.
Stephen was first exposed to Weightlifting when he started Crossfit in 2013. He spent the next couple of years coaching it and competing in local and national competitions. His first weightlifting meet was in 2015 and it was at that point when he decided to focus solely on Weightlifting.
Stephen has won several Northern Ireland Weightlifting titles and was the record holder in Northern Ireland for the snatch, clean and jerk and overall total in the 94kg category before the category changed to 96kg.
Stephen also represented Northern Ireland in the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Qualifications: British Weightlifting Level 2 Coaching, British Weightlifting Level 2 Technical Official, Crossfit Level 2 and Crossfit Football
James (Jimmy) was first introduced to the barbell in 2014 and has since developed his skills and technique to be regularly in the mix for medals at Northern Ireland Weightlifting meets. He has competed in several categories from 77kg - 89kg over the years. He has also used the skills he learnt to compete in Crossfit competitions.
As well as competing Jimmy has homed his coaching working with both groups and individuals of mixed abilities applying the skills he has learnt from different coaches and online programming.
